A Day in the Life
You teach Art and/or Art History to secondary school students — developing visual literacy, creative skills, and art historical knowledge through studio practice and academic study.
- Plan and deliver Art and Art History lessons aligned with the national curriculum
- Guide students through drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media projects
- Teach art history content — movements, periods, key artists, and critical analysis
- Assess practical art portfolios and written art history assignments
- Prepare students for O/L and A/L Art examinations
- Organise school art exhibitions and creative events
- Support students developing their creative practice and individual artistic voice
- Maintain art room supplies, equipment, and studio space
Work Environment
Secondary school art room and classroom — ranges from well-equipped private school studios to government school art rooms with basic materials. In Sri Lanka, Art is taught at O/L and A/L level (Aesthetic stream).
