A Day in the Life
You teach one or more aesthetic subjects (Art, Music, Dance, Drama) in a government school — delivering the national curriculum, preparing students for O/L and A/L aesthetics examinations, and fostering artistic appreciation.
- Deliver aesthetic subject lessons according to Ministry of Education syllabi
- Teach practical skills — musical instrument, dance technique, drawing, or drama performance
- Prepare students for A/L Aesthetic stream national examinations
- Organise and direct school cultural events, concerts, and performances
- Assess practical and theory components of aesthetic subjects
- Maintain aesthetic equipment (instruments, costumes, art materials)
- Submit periodic student progress reports to the principal
- Participate in school events — New Year, national day, sports day cultural programmes
Work Environment
Government school teaching environment. In Sri Lanka, government schools teach Aesthetic subjects as both a compulsory O/L subject and as an A/L stream (Aesthetic stream — Art, Music, Dancing, Drama).
