Instructional Designer
Instructional Designers are the architects of learning in the digital age — creating the courses, simulations, and experiences that train millions of people worldwide. In Sri Lanka, this is one of the most exciting emerging careers at the intersection of education, creativity, and technology. With the ability to work remotely for global clients, it is also one of the clearest pathways to earning international-level income while building a meaningful career in education.”
About This Role
Design and develop effective learning experiences — e-learning modules, training courses, videos, and blended learning programmes — for corporations, universities, and educational technology companies in Sri Lanka and internationally. Apply instructional design theory to create engaging, measurable learning content.
A Day in the Life
An Instructional Designer spends their day analysing learning objectives, designing course frameworks, scripting e-learning modules, creating interactive content using tools like Articulate Storyline, and collaborating with subject matter experts. Remote work is very common, and many Sri Lankan instructional designers work for overseas EdTech companies.

- Develop interactive e-learning using Articulate Storyline, Rise, or Adobe Captivate

- Evaluate learning effectiveness through assessment analysis
- Manage multiple course development projects simultaneously
Work Environment
