About This Role

A Day in the Life
A Livestock Production Officer's day is primarily field-based, involving visits to farms to provide technical advice, conduct training sessions, and assist farmers in improving their livestock management practices. The focus is on enhancing productivity and sustainability in dairy, poultry, swine, and goat farming.
- Visit farms to assess current livestock production practices and identify areas for improvement
- Provide technical advice to farmers on breeding, feeding, housing, and disease prevention
- Conduct training programs and workshops for farmers on modern livestock husbandry techniques
- Assist farmers in developing sustainable and profitable livestock production plans
- Monitor the implementation of recommended practices and evaluate their impact
- Collect data on livestock populations, production yields, and farmer needs
- Liaise with veterinary surgeons and other agricultural experts for integrated solutions
- Prepare reports on field activities and farmer progress for DAPH/NLDB
Work Environment
