SANASA is one of Asia's largest cooperative movements with 8,000+ primary societies and 5+ million members. SANASA Management Institute (SMI) in Colombo offers cooperative management training. Promotes from credit officer roles.
A Day in the Life
A SANASA Credit Union Manager oversees the daily operations of a primary SANASA society, focusing on member services, savings mobilization, loan appraisal, and overall financial management. This involves leading a small team, ensuring compliance with cooperative principles, and actively engaging with members to promote financial inclusion and community welfare.
- Supervise daily operations, including member transactions, savings, and loan processing.
- Appraise loan applications and make lending decisions based on society policies and member needs.
- Mobilize savings from members and promote various financial products.
- Manage the society's financial records, budgeting, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with SANASA bylaws, cooperative principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Organize and conduct member meetings, including the Annual General Meeting.
- Train and supervise credit officers and other staff members.
- Develop and implement strategies for membership growth and financial sustainability.
