An Aquaculture Scientist researches and develops sustainable methods for farming aquatic organisms. A typical day involves conducting experiments on fish breeding, nutrition, disease prevention, and water quality in controlled environments or field sites. They analyze data to improve growth rates, reduce environmental impact, and ensure the health of farmed species.
- Design and conduct experiments on breeding, feeding, and growth of aquatic species (fish, shrimp, crabs).
- Monitor and maintain water quality parameters (pH, oxygen, ammonia) in aquaculture systems.
- Develop and test new feed formulations to optimize growth and health.
- Research and implement disease prevention and treatment strategies.
- Collect and analyze data on growth rates, survival rates, and environmental factors.
- Evaluate the environmental impact of aquaculture practices and propose sustainable solutions.
