Bio-Curators in Sri Lanka manage, annotate, and maintain biological databases and specimen collections, ensuring data quality and accessibility for researchers, conservationists, and public institutions.
- Curate and annotate biological records in museum databases and specimen repositories
- Verify the accuracy of taxonomic, ecological, and geographic metadata for specimens
- Digitise physical specimen records and images for online database access
- Collaborate with researchers and taxonomists to resolve data discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with data sharing standards (e.g., Darwin Core, GBIF protocols)
- Respond to data requests from the scientific community and public
- Train volunteers and junior staff on curation processes and database tools
- Participate in field collection expeditions to acquire new specimens
