Bio-Molecular Modeler
About This Role
Developing high-performance software tools to visualize and predict biological-chemical interactions.
A Day in the Life
Bio-Molecular Modelers in Sri Lanka use computational methods to simulate how proteins, DNA, and other biological molecules interact, supporting drug discovery, vaccine development, and fundamental research at universities and biotech firms.
- Run molecular dynamics simulations to study protein folding, binding, and conformational changes
- Perform docking studies to predict how small molecules interact with target proteins
- Build homology models of proteins with unknown 3D structures
- Analyse simulation trajectories to extract thermodynamic and kinetic properties
- Collaborate with wet-lab biologists and chemists to design experiments informed by models
- Prepare research papers and presentations on modelling results
- Optimise drug candidates by predicting binding affinity and ADMET properties in silico
- Maintain computing cluster resources and molecular simulation pipelines
