Bio-Optics Specialists in Sri Lanka apply optical physics principles to the study of light interaction with biological tissues and organisms, working in medical diagnostics, environmental sensing, and biomedical research.
- Design and operate optical instruments for studying biological samples (spectrophotometers, fluorescence systems, imaging rigs)
- Conduct spectroscopy experiments to analyse tissue composition, chromophore concentrations, or organism pigmentation
- Develop or adapt optical sensing methods for medical diagnostics (e.g., pulse oximetry, optical coherence tomography)
- Analyse hyperspectral and fluorescence imaging data from biological specimens
- Collaborate with clinicians or ecologists to translate optical findings into applied insights
- Calibrate optical systems and validate measurement accuracy
- Write research papers and present findings at optics and biomedical conferences
- Contribute to grant proposals for bio-optics research funding
