A Day in the Life
Bio-Production Engineers manage and optimise biological manufacturing at commercial scale, overseeing fermentation, cell culture, or bioreactor operations to ensure consistent product quality, output, and GMP compliance.
- Manage daily bioreactor production operations and respond to process deviations
- Review batch records and ensure GMP documentation is complete and accurate
- Train production operators on bioprocess procedures and safety protocols
- Coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance with engineering teams
- Analyse production data to identify yield trends and process improvement opportunities
- Lead investigations into out-of-specification events and implement CAPAs
- Support qualification and validation of new equipment or process changes
- Liaise with QA, supply chain, and regulatory teams on production-related issues
Work Environment
Typical hours: 50h/week · WLB score 5/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
Shift-based role; weekend coverage and production campaigns can impact WLB significantly.
