A Day in the Life
Bio-Remediation Specialists in Sri Lanka use microorganisms, plants, and biological agents to clean up contaminated soils, groundwater, and industrial sites — working with government environmental agencies, consultancies, and industrial clients.
- Assess contaminated sites and design bioremediation treatment strategies
- Select and optimise microbial consortia or plants for target pollutant degradation
- Monitor bioremediation progress using sampling, chemical analysis, and microbial assays
- Operate biostimulation and bioaugmentation systems in field settings
- Prepare environmental impact assessments and remediation completion reports
- Liaise with CEA (Central Environmental Authority) and other regulators on site clean-up plans
- Conduct literature research on emerging bioremediation technologies
- Train field crews on safe sampling and biological treatment application
Work Environment
Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 7/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
Field seasons and remediation milestones can require intensive periods; otherwise good balance.
