A Day in the Life
R&D Biotechnologists in Sri Lanka lead research projects to discover and develop novel biological products and processes — pushing the boundaries of what is scientifically possible in pharma, agriculture, industrial biotech, and diagnostics.
- Design and lead research programs to develop novel biotechnological products or processes
- Apply CRISPR, synthetic biology, or advanced cell engineering to research questions
- Analyse complex experimental data and draw mechanistic conclusions
- Write research proposals, publish findings, and present at scientific conferences
- Manage junior scientists and coordinate multi-person research projects
- Establish new experimental platforms and techniques in the laboratory
- Collaborate with external academic or industry partners on joint research
- Translate research outcomes into viable development pathways
Work Environment
Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 7/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
Research-driven role; experiment timelines and grant deadlines can require extended periods of work.
