Chemical Physicists in Sri Lanka apply the principles of quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and statistical mechanics to understand chemical bonding, reaction dynamics, molecular spectroscopy, and surface phenomena — working in research universities and advanced materials labs.
- Conduct computational quantum chemistry calculations on molecular systems
- Perform advanced spectroscopic experiments (ultrafast lasers, NMR, X-ray spectroscopy)
- Study chemical reaction dynamics at atomic and molecular level using time-resolved techniques
- Develop theoretical models of molecular properties and reactivity
- Analyse thermodynamic and kinetic data for chemical systems of interest
- Collaborate with chemists, materials scientists, and physicists on interdisciplinary problems
- Write research papers and present at physical chemistry and chemical physics conferences
- Contribute to grant proposals for fundamental and applied chemical physics research
Work Environment
