Managing and analyzing large chemical databases using statistical algorithms.
A Day in the Life
Trainee Cheminformaticians are entry-level computational chemists learning to apply chemical databases, molecular modelling, and data science tools to support drug discovery and materials science research under supervision.
- Learn and apply Python/RDKit to process and analyse chemical structure data
- Assist senior cheminformaticians with database curation and compound data cleaning
- Run basic virtual docking experiments with guidance and interpret preliminary results
- Complete online cheminformatics courses and tool-specific training
- Support literature reviews on cheminformatics methods and drug target data
- Prepare visualisations of molecular data using Python plotting tools
- Document workflows and assist in preparing technical reports
- Participate in research group meetings and present progress updates
Work Environment
Typical hours: 40h/week · WLB score 9/10 · RARE overtime
Training role with structured hours and excellent WLB; computational and flexible.
