A Day in the Life
Cheminformatics Scientists lead research at the interface of chemistry and computation, developing new methods and software for molecular property prediction, chemical space navigation, and data-driven drug or materials discovery.
- Lead development of novel cheminformatics algorithms and computational methods
- Publish research on molecular property prediction, chemical diversity, or QSAR methods
- Evaluate and benchmark new AI/ML tools for chemical applications
- Manage cheminformatics software infrastructure and data pipelines
- Collaborate with wet-lab chemists, biologists, and data scientists across research programs
- Mentor junior analysts and review cheminformatics work for quality and accuracy
- Present at major computational chemistry conferences (ACS, EuroQSAR)
- Contribute to open-source cheminformatics tools and community standards
Work Environment
Typical hours: 42h/week · WLB score 8/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
Flexible research role; remote-friendly in most global settings.
