About This Role
Performs diagnostic tests to identify hearing loss and balance disorders in patients of all ages.
A Day in the Life
Assess, diagnose, and rehabilitate hearing and balance disorders in patients of all ages at hospitals, audiology clinics, and cochlear implant centers across Sri Lanka.
- Conduct audiological assessments (pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, tympanometry)
- Perform ABR (Auditory Brainstem Response) and OAE (Otoacoustic Emission) testing
- Diagnose hearing loss type, degree, and configuration
- Prescribe and fit hearing aids (digital, BTE, RIC)
- Provide cochlear implant mapping and rehabilitation
- Conduct balance/vestibular assessments (VNG, posturography)
- Counsel patients and families on hearing loss management
- Collaborate with ENT surgeons, SLTs, and pediatricians
Work Environment
Sound-treated audiology clinic within a hospital or private audiological center. Technical equipment-intensive environment. Combination of diagnostic testing and rehabilitation. Works closely with ENT department.
Typical hours: 42h/week · WLB score 8/10 · RARE overtime
Audiology offers excellent work-life balance. Clinical audiology hours are regular. Private clinic ownership provides further flexibility.
