About This Role
Helps patients recover from injury or surgery through physical exercises and therapy.
A Day in the Life
Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with physical impairments, injuries, or disabilities at Sri Lankan hospitals, rehabilitation centers, or sports clinics. Use evidence-based manual therapy, exercise prescription, and electrotherapy to restore function.
- Conduct physiotherapy assessments and functional evaluations
- Design and implement individualized treatment programs
- Apply manual therapy techniques (joint mobilization, massage)
- Prescribe and supervise therapeutic exercises
- Use electrotherapy modalities (TENS, ultrasound, laser)
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans
- Educate patients on home exercise programs and self-management
- Document treatment notes in hospital patient records
Work Environment
Hospital physiotherapy department, private physiotherapy clinic, or rehabilitation center. Active, hands-on clinical environment. Works with patients of all ages from post-operative to sports injuries.
Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 7/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
Physiotherapy offers good work-life balance compared to medical roles. Private practice can be very flexible. Government hospital hours are regular.
