An Eco-Toxicologist (Forest Systems) spends their day investigating the effects of chemical pollutants on forest ecosystems. This involves designing and conducting field and lab experiments, collecting samples (soil, water, plants, wildlife), analyzing genetic and physiological impacts, and interpreting data to assess ecosystem health and inform conservation strategies.
- Design and implement experiments to study pollutant effects on forest organisms
- Collect environmental samples (soil, water, plant tissues, animal samples) from forest sites
- Perform laboratory analysis for chemical contaminants and genetic markers (e.g., DNA damage)
- Analyze data using statistical software to identify trends and impacts
