This involves using chemical and biochemical tests to determine the origin and characteristics of these fluids, providing crucial information for DNA analysis and crime reconstruction.
- Receive, document, and manage biological fluid evidence from crime scenes
- Conduct presumptive and confirmatory tests for blood, semen, saliva, and other body fluids
- Perform species identification tests (e.g., human vs. animal blood)
- Analyze bloodstain patterns to assist in crime scene reconstruction
- Prepare samples for subsequent DNA analysis by DNA specialists
