This involves collecting, preserving, and analyzing digital evidence from computers, mobile devices, and networks, often using specialized software and hardware. They work closely with forensic scientists and law enforcement to reconstruct events and identify perpetrators.
- Acquire and preserve digital evidence from various sources (computers, mobile phones, servers)
- Perform data recovery from damaged or deleted storage devices
- Analyze digital artifacts to identify user activity, timelines, and communication patterns
- Investigate network intrusions, malware, and other cyber incidents
- Utilize specialized forensic software and hardware for evidence processing
