A Day in the Life
A Hydrobiologist spends their day monitoring and studying aquatic ecosystems. This involves collecting water and biological samples from lakes, rivers, and coastal areas, analyzing water chemistry, identifying aquatic organisms, and assessing the impact of pollution or environmental changes. They often work outdoors and in laboratories.
- Collect water samples, sediment samples, and aquatic organisms from various water bodies
- Conduct laboratory analysis of water chemistry (pH, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, pollutants)
- Identify and quantify aquatic flora (algae, macrophytes) and fauna (invertebrates, fish)
