An Industrial Pharmacist is involved in the large-scale manufacturing and formulation of pharmaceutical drugs in factories. Their day focuses on ensuring drug quality, safety, and efficacy throughout the production process, from raw material inspection to finished product release. This includes process optimization, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and sometimes R&D for new formulations.
- Overseeing and optimizing pharmaceutical manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency and quality.
- Conducting in-process and finished product quality control (QC) checks and batch release.
- Ensuring strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other regulatory requirements.
- Investigating deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints, implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborating with R&D for new drug formulation and process scale-up.
- Managing documentation for production batches, quality records, and regulatory submissions.
- Training and supervising production and quality assurance staff.
- Implementing process improvements to enhance drug stability, purity, and yield.
