A Day in the Life
A Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Analyst spends their day ensuring laboratory data systems run smoothly. This involves troubleshooting software issues, configuring new tests, integrating instruments, and training lab staff on system usage. They act as the bridge between IT and laboratory operations.
- Troubleshoot LIS software and hardware issues reported by lab staff
- Configure new tests, panels, and result reporting formats within the LIS
- Integrate new laboratory instruments with the LIS for automated data transfer
- Develop and maintain LIS documentation, including user manuals and SOPs
- Provide training and support to laboratory personnel on LIS functionalities
- Perform system updates, patches, and routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance
- Collaborate with IT and lab management to identify and implement system enhancements
- Generate custom reports from the LIS for quality control, auditing, and operational analysis
Work Environment
