- Evaluate progeny for desired traits using phenotypic selection and field trials
- Collect and analyze data on plant performance, yield, and quality
- Maintain detailed records of breeding lines, crosses, and selections
- Collaborate with molecular biologists for marker-assisted selection
- Develop and release new plant varieties to farmers
