A Plant Molecular Biologist spends their day in the laboratory, performing experiments to understand the molecular processes within plant cells. This involves techniques like gene cloning, protein analysis, and gene expression studies, followed by data analysis and interpretation.
- Design and execute experiments to investigate gene function and regulation in plants
- Perform molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, cloning, and sequencing
- Conduct protein analysis (e.g., Western blotting, ELISA) to study plant protein function
- Analyze gene expression patterns using techniques like qPCR or RNA-seq
