- Inspect imported and exported plants, plant products, and related articles for pests and diseases
- Verify phytosanitary certificates and other import/export documentation

- Collect samples for laboratory analysis if a pest or disease is suspected
- Enforce national and international phytosanitary regulations and quarantine laws
- Issue import permits, export certificates, and other necessary documentation
