- Inspect harvested fruits and vegetables for symptoms of postharvest diseases
- Isolate and culture fungal, bacterial, or viral pathogens from diseased samples in the laboratory
- Conduct diagnostic tests (e.g., microscopy, molecular tests) to identify specific pathogens
- Research and develop effective control strategies, including chemical, biological, and cultural methods
- Design and implement experiments to test the efficacy of new treatments or storage conditions
