Their day involves mapping out data flows from IoT sensors (soil, weather, crop health), designing robust databases, and creating pipelines to integrate diverse data sources. They ensure data quality, security, and accessibility for analytics, enabling agronomists and data scientists to derive actionable insights for optimizing farm operations.
- Design scalable data architectures for precision agriculture platforms
- Develop data models for sensor data (soil, weather, crop), drone imagery, and machinery data
- Create and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines for data ingestion
- Implement data governance, security, and privacy protocols
- Collaborate with IoT engineers, agronomists, and data scientists to understand data needs
