A Day in the Life
A Process Control & Quality Manager oversees the entire chemical manufacturing process to ensure products meet stringent quality standards while optimizing efficiency and safety. Their day involves monitoring production data, implementing statistical process control (SPC) techniques, conducting quality audits, and leading a team to identify and resolve process deviations. They collaborate closely with R&D, production, and regulatory affairs to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance.
- Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures for chemical manufacturing
- Monitor key process parameters and product quality data using statistical tools
- Lead root cause analysis for quality deviations and implement corrective actions
- Manage and mentor a team of quality control technicians and process engineers
- Conduct internal and external quality audits to ensure compliance with standards (e.g., ISO, GMP)
- Collaborate with R&D for new product scale-up and process validation
- Optimize manufacturing processes to improve yield, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency
- Prepare quality reports, trend analyses, and present findings to management
Work Environment
Works in a hybrid environment, splitting time between an office for data analysis and team management, and the manufacturing plant for process observation, audits, and troubleshooting. The environment can be dynamic, requiring quick problem-solving and strong leadership in a production setting.
