A Day in the Life
A QA Lead in Agri-Export ensures that plant products destined for international markets meet stringent chemical residue, nutritional, and phytosanitary standards. The day involves overseeing quality control throughout the supply chain, from farm to packaging, conducting inspections, managing laboratory testing, and ensuring compliance with importing country regulations. Significant time is spent on documentation, audit preparation, and supplier management.
- Develop and implement quality assurance plans for agri-export products
- Oversee farm-level practices to ensure GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) compliance
- Manage residue testing (pesticides, heavy metals) and nutritional analysis in accredited labs
- Conduct pre-shipment inspections of fresh produce and processed plant products
- Ensure packaging, labeling, and storage meet international phytosanitary standards
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for traceability and export certification
- Liaise with international buyers, regulatory bodies, and certification agencies
- Train farmers and internal staff on quality protocols and export requirements
Work Environment
Works in a hybrid environment, splitting time between office-based documentation and field visits to farms, packing houses, and processing facilities. The environment can be dynamic, requiring adaptability to various agricultural settings and weather conditions.
