A Day in the Life
A Quality Control (QC) Analyst in Biotech spends their day performing rigorous tests on biological products (e.g., vaccines, therapeutics) to ensure they meet strict chemical and genetic purity standards. This involves using advanced molecular and biochemical techniques, analyzing data, and documenting results.
- Perform molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA sequencing.
- Conduct biochemical assays including ELISA, Western Blot, and protein quantification.
- Test biological samples for purity, potency, identity, and stability.
- Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment (e.g., flow cytometers, bioreactors).
- Analyze and interpret complex experimental data.
- Document all testing procedures, results, and deviations in accordance with GLP/GMP.
- Investigate out-of-specification results and participate in troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues.
Work Environment
