A Quality Control (QC) Chemist / MPT (Mineral Processing Technology) analyzes processed mineral samples to ensure they meet specific chemical and physical grades required by buyers. This involves conducting various analytical tests, operating specialized equipment, interpreting results, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Perform chemical analysis on mineral samples (e.g., heavy mineral sands, graphite, gemstones).
- Conduct physical tests such as particle size analysis, density, and moisture content.
- Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment for mineral analysis (e.g., XRF, XRD, ICP-OES).
- Prepare samples for analysis, including crushing, grinding, and sieving.
- Analyze test data, identify deviations from specifications, and report findings.
- Calibrate and validate laboratory instruments to ensure accuracy.
