A Remote Sensing Scientist (Chem Focus) analyzes satellite and airborne data to detect and monitor chemical changes in the Earth's atmosphere, oceans, and land surface. This involves applying principles of spectroscopy and atmospheric chemistry to interpret spectral signatures, identify pollutants, track greenhouse gases, or assess ecosystem health.
- Acquire and process hyperspectral and multispectral remote sensing data from satellite and airborne sensors.
- Develop and apply spectroscopic techniques to identify and quantify chemical constituents in the atmosphere, water, or land.
- Analyze spectral signatures to detect pollutants, greenhouse gases, aerosols, or changes in vegetation chemistry.
- Develop and validate atmospheric or surface chemistry models using remote sensing data.
- Integrate remote sensing data with ground-based measurements and chemical transport models.
- Publish research findings in scientific journals and present at conferences.
- Collaborate with atmospheric scientists, environmental chemists, and climate modelers.
- Stay updated with advancements in remote sensing technology and chemical analysis techniques.
