A Day in the Life
A Sustainability Manager in Agribusiness leads the development and implementation of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies. This involves integrating sustainable practices into farming operations, supply chains, and product development, ensuring compliance, and communicating the company's sustainability efforts to stakeholders.
- Develop and implement corporate sustainability strategies and policies.
- Identify and assess environmental and social risks and opportunities in agribusiness operations.
- Manage sustainability reporting (e.g., GRI, integrated reporting) and data collection.
- Lead initiatives for sustainable sourcing, waste reduction, and energy efficiency.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders (farmers, suppliers, customers, NGOs).
- Ensure compliance with local and international sustainability regulations and certifications.
- Conduct training and awareness programs for employees on sustainability practices.
- Research and evaluate new sustainable technologies and practices for adoption.
Work Environment
A dynamic role split between office-based strategy development, reporting, and stakeholder meetings, and field visits to farms or processing facilities to oversee implementation of sustainable practices. The environment is collaborative, involving cross-functional teams.
Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 6/10 · COMMON overtime
Can be demanding, especially during reporting cycles or when launching new initiatives. Travel to sites and stakeholder engagement can extend working hours.
