An Urban Planner develops plans and programs for the use of land in cities and communities. This involves conducting research on population growth, economic trends, and environmental factors, creating zoning regulations, developing master plans for new developments or revitalization projects, and engaging with residents and stakeholders to ensure plans meet community needs and promote sustainable growth.
- Conduct research and analysis on population trends, land use patterns, and environmental factors
- Develop and review zoning ordinances, land subdivision regulations, and building codes
- Create comprehensive master plans for urban development, regeneration, and conservation
- Evaluate development proposals for compliance with planning regulations and community goals
- Facilitate public meetings, workshops, and consultations to gather community input
- Prepare detailed reports, policy recommendations, and presentations for local authorities
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, environmental specialists, and government officials
