A Day in the Life
A Water Sustainability & Compliance Manager ensures that an organization's water usage is efficient, environmentally responsible, and fully compliant with all relevant laws and certifications. This involves developing and implementing water management strategies, conducting audits, and staying updated on evolving environmental regulations.
- Developing and implementing water conservation and efficiency programs for the organization.
- Monitoring water consumption and discharge data, identifying areas for improvement.
- Ensuring compliance with national and international environmental regulations related to water use and discharge.
- Conducting internal audits and preparing for external environmental certifications (e.g., ISO 14001).
- Preparing environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and water management plans.
- Liaising with regulatory bodies, environmental agencies, and industry associations.
- Training staff on water sustainability practices and compliance requirements.
- Researching and recommending new technologies or practices for water reuse and treatment.
Work Environment
Primarily an office-based role, involving desk work, meetings, and site visits to operational facilities (factories, plantations, hotels) to conduct audits and assess water management practices. The environment is professional and collaborative.
