About This Role

Installs, services, and repairs wind turbines at Sri Lanka's wind farms (Mannar Wind Power Project 100MW, Kalpitiya, Pooneryn). WindForce PLC and ACES operate the major wind farms. Climbing certification and electrical skills required. Growing sector post-2023.

A Day in the Life

Install, operate, and maintain wind turbines at wind energy farms in Mannar, Pooneryn, and Hambantota under Sri Lanka's growing wind power programme, supporting the national renewable energy transition.

  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on wind turbines (blade inspection, gearbox oil, brake checks)
  • Climb turbine towers for nacelle and rotor inspections
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot turbine faults using SCADA and remote monitoring systems
  • Coordinate with crane operators for major component replacements (blades, gearbox)
  • Maintain maintenance logs and prepare performance reports
  • Ensure compliance with IEC wind turbine safety standards
  • Monitor wind resource data and report to generation planning team

Remote site location with accommodation provided. Shift-based roster with periods on-site followed by rest periods. Strong camaraderie in small team environment.
