A Day in the Life
Lead or work within the kitchen team of a hotel, restaurant, or resort in Sri Lanka — preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to menu standards while managing food safety, quality, and kitchen operations.
- Review mise en place requirements and assign prep duties to kitchen team
- Cook dishes to established recipes and plating standards
- Inspect ingredient quality and freshness before service
- Manage kitchen cleanliness and HACCP (food safety) compliance
- Coordinate with F&B manager on menu planning and food cost targets
- Train junior cooks and apprentices on techniques and standards
- Manage food wastage and contribute to cost control targets
- Adjust menu offerings for seasonal produce availability in SL

Hotel kitchen, restaurant, or resort — ranging from simple local cuisine establishments to 5-star international hotel kitchens in Colombo.
