A Day in the Life
A Logistics & Fleet Manager's day involves overseeing the entire lifecycle of a vehicle fleet, from procurement and maintenance to route optimization and driver management. The goal is to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and compliant transportation operations, often involving real-time problem-solving.
- Plan and optimize vehicle routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries/collections.
- Manage and monitor driver performance, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance and repair schedules to minimize downtime.
- Track fuel consumption, mileage, and other operational costs to identify efficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations, permits, and licensing requirements.
- Manage vehicle procurement, disposal, and insurance processes.
- Utilize fleet management software to track vehicles and analyze data.
- Respond to operational issues, breakdowns, or delays in real-time.
Work Environment
A mix of office-based work (planning, reporting, data analysis) and fieldwork (visiting depots, workshops, or overseeing operations). The environment can be fast-paced and require quick responses to operational challenges.
