About This Role
Designs and implements change management, cultural transformation, and organisational restructuring programmes. Works with senior leadership teams. Can be in-house or as an external consultant. Post-COVID restructuring and digital transformation have driven demand. Usually requires a Masters in Organisational Psychology, MBA, or CIPM post-graduate diploma.
A Day in the Life
An Organisational Development (OD) Consultant designs and implements strategies to improve an organization's effectiveness, culture, and adaptability. A typical day involves diagnosing organizational issues, developing change management plans, facilitating workshops, and coaching leaders through transformation initiatives.
- Conduct organizational assessments and diagnostics to identify areas for improvement in structure, culture, and processes.
- Design and implement change management strategies for large-scale organizational transformations (e.g., mergers, digital adoption).
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions on topics like leadership development, team effectiveness, and cultural change.
- Coach senior leaders and managers on leading change and fostering a positive work environment.
- Develop and implement employee engagement and retention strategies.
- Analyze organizational data (e.g., surveys, performance metrics) to measure the impact of OD interventions.
- Advise on organizational design, job roles, and reporting structures.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners and other HR functions to integrate OD initiatives.
Work Environment
Works in a dynamic, often project-based environment, moving between client sites (if external) or different departments (if internal). The role involves significant interaction with senior leadership and employees at all levels, requiring strong facilitation and influencing skills.
Typical hours: 48h/week · WLB score 6/10 · COMMON overtime
