About This Role
Manages the front-of-house and operational aspects of a restaurant — staffing, reservations, customer experience, and P&L. Colombo's dining scene has over 500 formal restaurants. Key employers: Paradise Road Restaurants, Cricket Club Café, Ministry of Crab, The Orchid, and hotel restaurants.
A Day in the Life
A Restaurant Manager's day is a fast-paced blend of operational oversight, customer service, and team leadership. It involves ensuring smooth daily operations, managing staff, optimizing customer experience, and handling administrative tasks to ensure profitability.
- Oversee daily restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house coordination
- Manage and train restaurant staff (waiters, hosts, bartenders), including scheduling and performance reviews
- Ensure high standards of customer service and address guest feedback and complaints
- Monitor inventory, order supplies, and manage vendor relationships
- Implement marketing and promotional strategies to attract and retain customers
- Manage budgets, track sales, and analyze financial performance to optimize profitability
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations
- Handle administrative tasks such as payroll, reporting, and licensing
Work Environment
A dynamic, often high-pressure environment, especially during peak hours. Requires constant movement, interaction with staff and customers, and the ability to multitask effectively in a bustling setting.
