A Retail Buyer's day is a mix of strategic planning, negotiation, and market analysis. They are responsible for selecting products that align with consumer demand and company strategy, negotiating favorable terms with suppliers, managing inventory, and monitoring sales performance to ensure profitability.
- Research market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor offerings to identify product opportunities.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with local and international suppliers.
- Select and procure merchandise for retail stores, ensuring alignment with brand image and target market.
- Manage supplier relationships, including performance evaluation and contract renewals.
- Analyze sales data, inventory levels, and profit margins to optimize purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with marketing and visual merchandising teams for product launches and promotions.
- Monitor stock levels and work with supply chain to prevent overstocking or stock-outs.
- Attend trade shows and supplier meetings to discover new products and build networks.
Work Environment
