About This Role
Writes scripts for Sinhala teledramas, films, radio dramas, and YouTube series. Sinhala teledrama is a massive industry — top shows run 5 nights/week, 52 weeks/year, each episode 30 minutes. Writers are paid per episode. Key platforms: Sirasa TV, Hiru TV, Derana, Swarnavahini. Tamil scriptwriters serve both Sri Lankan Tamil channels (Shakthi TV) and South Indian productions.
A Day in the Life
A Screenwriter's day is primarily spent researching, brainstorming, outlining, and writing. This involves developing characters, crafting dialogue, structuring plots, and revising drafts based on feedback from producers and directors. It's a solitary yet highly creative process.
