A Day in the Life
You specialise in diagnosing and repairing automotive cooling systems — radiators, coolant circuits, water pumps, thermostats, and engine temperature management — preventing overheating and maintaining engine efficiency.
- Diagnose overheating complaints through coolant pressure testing and temperature monitoring
- Flush and refill cooling systems with appropriate coolant mixtures
- Replace radiators, water pumps, thermostats, hoses, and coolant reservoirs
- Pressure-test cooling systems for leaks after repair
- Inspect heater core and cabin heating systems
- Check and replace engine cooling fans (electric and mechanical)
- Test electric coolant pumps on hybrid vehicles
- Advise customers on coolant service intervals for Sri Lanka's tropical climate
Work Environment
Automotive workshop environment. In Sri Lanka, overheating is a particularly common vehicle complaint due to the tropical climate and traffic congestion in Colombo. Cooling system specialists find steady work at general workshops and at specialist radiator repair shops concentrated in Colombo's Maradana and Borella areas.
