A Day in the Life
You perform scheduled maintenance and general repairs on passenger vehicles — oil changes, brake services, tyre work, suspension, and minor engine repairs — as part of a dealership or workshop service team.
- Carry out scheduled A/B/C service maintenance (oil, filters, fluids, belts)
- Perform brake pad and disc replacement and brake fluid bleeding
- Rotate and balance tyres; check tyre wear patterns
- Inspect suspension components and replace worn bushings, shock absorbers
- Perform wheel alignment checks and adjustments
- Replace spark plugs, air filters, fuel filters per service schedule
- Check and top up all vehicle fluids (coolant, power steering, brake, washer)
- Complete job cards accurately and report additional findings to service advisor
Work Environment
Automotive workshop with individual vehicle bays, lifts, and a service reception area. Sri Lankan vehicle service workshops range from single-bay independent operators to large multi-bay authorised dealership service centres. Entry-level technicians typically work across general maintenance tasks before specialising.
