Partners with business leaders to align HR strategy with operational needs — talent planning, performance management, employee engagement, and organisational design. Key employers: John Keells Holdings, Hemas Holdings, MAS Holdings, SriLankan Airlines, Commercial Bank. CIPM MHRM or CIPM Chartered designation (MCIPM) is the gold standard in Sri Lanka.
A Day in the Life
An HR Business Partner (HRBP) acts as a strategic consultant to business units, aligning HR initiatives with business goals. A typical day involves collaborating with leaders on talent management, performance, organizational design, and employee engagement, ensuring HR strategies support operational success.
- Partner with business leaders to understand strategic objectives and translate them into HR priorities.
- Provide guidance on talent management, including workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development.
- Drive performance management processes, coaching managers on effective feedback and goal setting.
- Lead employee engagement initiatives and address employee relations issues within assigned business units.
- Advise on organizational design and change management strategies to support business transformation.
- Analyze HR metrics and data to identify trends and provide data-driven recommendations to leaders.
- Facilitate training and development programs tailored to specific business unit needs.
- Ensure HR policies and practices are consistently applied and compliant with local labour laws.
Work Environment
Works in a dynamic office environment, often moving between different business units and meeting with various stakeholders. The role requires a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on problem-solving, with a focus on collaboration and influence.
