Sells meeting, incentive, conference, and exhibition packages to corporate clients for large hotels. Key properties: Hilton Colombo, Shangri-La Colombo, Cinnamon Grand, Galadari Hotel, Kingsbury. MICE revenue is a major revenue pillar for Colombo's luxury hotels. Requires business development and negotiation skills. SLITHM hospitality degree preferred.
A Day in the Life
A MICE Sales Manager's day revolves around identifying potential corporate clients, pitching hotel facilities for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions, and negotiating contracts. It's a target-driven role that requires strong business development skills, excellent communication, and a deep understanding of hospitality offerings.
- Researching and identifying potential corporate clients for MICE events
- Conducting sales calls, presentations, and site inspections for prospective clients
- Developing customized proposals and packages for MICE bookings
- Negotiating contracts, terms, and pricing with clients to secure business
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with corporate clients and event agencies
- Collaborating with hotel operations teams to ensure seamless event execution
- Attending industry trade shows, networking events, and client entertainment
- Achieving monthly/quarterly sales targets and preparing sales reports
Work Environment
Primarily works in a professional hotel sales office, but frequently travels for client meetings, site visits, and industry events. The environment is target-driven, competitive, and requires constant interaction with clients and internal hotel departments. High emphasis on presentation and relationship building.
